How can we help?
Email info@appsdesignagency.co.uk and a real person replies, usually within a working day. Most questions are answered below.
Setting up a child's device
On the child's phone or tablet, install SafePlay Kids (free on Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.safeplay.kids; iPhone and iPad coming soon), open it and sign in with your parent account. Pick the child, set a grown-ups PIN, and that's it — your account isn't kept on the device. The PIN guards the "grown-ups" screen (which only removes the setup) and any link out of YouTube's player, such as "Watch on YouTube".
A channel isn't showing on the child's device
Changes sync live while the app is open and on the next launch otherwise. If a channel you approved is missing, check the child's page in the dashboard: on the Free plan only the 8 most recently approved channels are active and any others are marked paused. Removing a channel or upgrading restores them.
A video says it can't play
Some videos can't be embedded outside YouTube (the uploader's choice), and unavailable or removed videos are hidden automatically. Try another one; nothing is wrong with the setup.
Removing a device or a channel
Both happen from the dashboard: Children → the child → Remove next to a channel, or Remove device. The child's app updates within seconds. You can also remove the setup on the device itself from the grown-ups screen with your PIN.
Forgotten grown-ups PIN
Remove the device from the dashboard (Children → the child → Remove device). The app returns to setup on its next launch and you can pair it again with a new PIN.
Billing, receipts and cancelling
Settings → Plan & billing → Manage plan opens Stripe's secure billing portal for receipts, card changes and cancellation. If you cancel, nothing is deleted: each child keeps their 8 most recently approved channels; the rest are paused until you upgrade again.
Deleting your account
Settings → Danger zone → Close my account. This permanently deletes your family, every child profile, all approvals and history, and cancels any subscription. It cannot be undone.

FAQ
Questions parents ask first
Is this YouTube Kids?
No. YouTube Kids still recommends videos from an algorithm and can't reliably block Shorts. SafePlay shows your child only the channels you approved, in the order they were uploaded — nothing suggested, nothing autoplayed, no ads from SafePlay; videos play in YouTube's own player.
Does my child need a Google or YouTube account?
No. Children never sign in to anything. You pair the SafePlay app on their device to one child profile, protected by a grown-ups PIN, and your own account never lives on the device.
What is Strict Mode?
Normally, approving a channel makes its whole catalogue watchable, including future uploads. With Strict Mode on, new uploads from an approved channel wait in your review queue until you say yes. It's free on every plan.
How fast does removing a channel take effect?
Immediately. The child's app syncs live, so a channel you remove disappears from their screen within seconds — even mid-browse.
What happens if I cancel the Family plan?
Nothing is deleted and nothing needs re-approving. Each child keeps their 8 most recently approved channels active; anything over the free limit is paused and hidden from the child, and comes straight back if you upgrade again.
What do you do with my child's data?
As little as possible. We store a first name, an optional birth year and watch history for the time window your plan includes. There is no advertising, no profiling and no recommendation engine — content only ever comes from your list. We designed for the UK Children's Code from the start.
Do the videos still play through YouTube?
Yes. Videos play in YouTube's own embedded player, with YouTube's own controls, inside a frame we control. We curate what's around the video; we don't modify the player or download anything.
